BoE’s Sharp wants FPC powers over buy-to-let market

Treasury to decide powers over buy-to-let market

It is "important" the Bank of England (BoE) financial policy committee (FPC) is equipped with powers of direction over the buy-to-let mortgage market in the UK, according to Richard Sharp, an external member of the FPC.

Speaking about financial stability at Nottingham Trent University on October 12, Sharp noted the Treasury intends to consult on the topic later this year. "It is important that the Committee is provided with powers," he said.
