Most central banks reviewed risk management in past year

Other aspects evaluated varied by risk team structure and departmental staff strength

The majority of central banks responding to the Risk Management Benchmarks 2025 reviewed their practices and procedures during the past 12 months, with risk management the most widely reviewed.

Over four-fifths (82.5%) of 40 jurisdictions say they reviewed risk management. Internal audit reviews took place at 65% of central banks, while just over a half (52.5%) of institutions say they carried out external reviews. Management reviews (45%) are the least common area of risk mitigation revisited
