Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta nominated International Monetary Fund adviser Patrick Njoroge as the next governor of the central bank on June 2, as he looks to fill the vacancy created by the departure of Njuguna Ndung'u in March.

Njoroge has beaten out competition from one current and one former deputy governor for the nomination, and will now be put forward to parliament for "vetting".

If selected, he will join from the IMF, where he has served as an adviser to the deputy managing director
