Bank of Italy holds conference in memory of economist Curzio Giannini
Ignazio Visco, governor of the Bank of Italy, earlier this week opened a conference dedicated to the memory of the late Bank of Italy economist Curzio Giannini with a speech praising his foresight into many of the issues central banks face today.
Visco described Giannini as "a brilliant economist" and "dedicated scholar of central banking". He was the author of The age of central banks, and died prematurely in July 2003 at the age of 45.
Visco said Giannini's basic thesis is that "central banks
