Credit and counterparty risk gains relevance as most covered risk

But central banks’ top risks vary by geographical regions

Credit and counterparty risk rose to become central banks’ most covered risk this year, though institutions manage many other threats, the Risk Management Benchmarks 2025 find.

Over nine-tenths (92.7%) of the 41 central banks that provided data on the issue say they cover credit and counterparty risk. Next to that is liquidity (90%), market (90.2%) and operational (90%) risks.
