Central Bank of Azerbaijan ramps up cyber security

Division head points to AI’s potential as additional safeguard

The head of cyber security at the Central Bank of Azerbaijan said it will establish a new Computer Emergency Response Team to tackle an increasing number of cyber attacks. The team is part of the central bank’s cyber security strategy for 2023–25. 

Elvin Shahverdiyev, speaking at the sixth International Banking Forum in Baku, said artificial intelligence (AI) should also be used to strengthen the financial sector against malicious actors.
