Payment costs down 50% in Denmark
Cash usage declines to the same level of credit cards, official survey says
Payment costs in Denmark fell in 2016 as the use of new electronic alternatives grew, according to an official survey published by the National Bank of Denmark.
The cost of payments between households and companies reached approximately 11 billion kroner ($1.7 billion), or 0.5% of GDP. This represents nearly a 50% reduction from 2009, the central bank says, despite a 16% increase in the number of transactions during the period.
