Brazil grants Paysafe licence for online gambling market

BCB gives UK-based company green light to operate as payment institution for newly regulated sector

Brazil’s central bank has granted Paysafe a licence to operate as the payment institution for the country’s newly regulated online gambling industry.

The global payments firm, which is headquartered in the UK, announced on January 7 that it had received the licence from the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB).

Paysafe will operate in Brazil through its Safetypay subsidiary. The company did not specify when it had received the approval, but a BCB spokesperson tells Central Banking that the licence was
