Swedish deputy governor praises eurosystem’s instant payments project
Government involvement necessary for safe real-time payments, Jochnick says
Sweden should consider joining the instant payments system being developed by the eurosystem, Sveriges Riksbank deputy governor Kerstin af Jochnick said today (August 24).
In a speech, Jochnick said increased competition in payments requires the public sector to provide standardisation and security.
“Our assessment is that the Riksbank should continue to play a central role with responsibility for the Swedish settlement system,” she said.
