NY Fed names new first VP

US: The Federal Reserve of New York announced it had appointed Naureen Hassan as its first vice-president and chief operating officer (COO) on March 3.

As first vice-president of the New York Fed, Hassan is also an alternate member of the Federal Open Market Committee. She will begin work on March 15.

Hassan replaces Michael Strine, who retired at the end of February, and who had ceased participating in day-to-day operations at the Fed in November 2020. Helen Mucciolo has served as acting
