
Syria appoints new central bank governor
Abdul Qader al-Husriya takes over from interim governor Maysa Sabreen

Syria’s president Ahmad al-Shara has appointed Abdul Qader al-Husriya as governor of the country’s central bank, state news agency Sana reported on April 7.
Husriya is taking over from Maysa Sabreen, who was the first woman to hold the post. Sabreen was appointed as interim governor after Shara came to power in December following the ousting of former president Bashar al-Assad.
