Zambia’s central bank governor has been dismissed by the country’s president, less than a week after he warned of the country’s growing economic difficulties.

In a statement on August 22, president Edgar Lungu announced he had dismissed Denny Kalyalya. Lungu appointed the deputy secretary to the cabinet’s finance and economic development department, Christopher Mvunga, with immediate effect.
