Chile and IMF divided on potential growth

Latest staff report reveals difference in views on long-term growth of the Chilean economy

Chilean authorities and the International Monetary Fund remain split on the question of potential growth, according to the IMF's latest staff report, published on August 6, which reveals a divergence in their GDP forecasts.

The IMF expects the Chilean economy to grow by 3.5% in 2018 and 3.6% in 2019. This represents a notable reduction from last year's forecast, when the IMF predicted growth of 4.3% in both years.
