Press releases, conferences and website are top external channels

Email remains main tool for internal communications among central banks

Central banks use a mix of external communication channels, but press releases and conferences are the most common means among respondents to the Communications Benchmarks 2024.

Press releases are used among all (100%) 34 respondents. Press conferences (97.1%), website (94.1%) and social media (91.2%) take the second, third and fourth places, respectively. Other tools (14.7%), the central bank’s own mobile app (23.5%) and podcasts (23.5%) are the least used.

Comms teams are also typically tasked
