Over 60% of risk departments face staff and resource shortages

Teams that face hiring challenges generally have to make do with smaller risk departments

Central banks face widespread challenges in sufficiently staffing and resourcing their risk management departments, data from the Risk Management Benchmarks 2025 shows.

Across the 40 responses to this section, 62.5% of central banks said they faced challenges in hiring sufficient staff for the risk management department in the past year. A further 65.8% reported resource constraints aside from staffing. High income country central banks are less likely to report constraints than most other
