Bank of Canada study calls for standard accessibility practices

Academics say current banking infrastructure is inadequate for people with disabilities

Standard accessibility practices, live assistance and thoughtful user-experience design are needed to make banking interfaces suitable for people with disabilities, a Bank of Canada study finds.

The research, conducted in partnership with the Inclusive Design Research Centre at OCAD University, focuses on two groups of people: those who rely on others to perform banking tasks for them; and those who avoid interactions with technology.

The study finds that people from both groups avoid systems that
