West Balkan central banks to create instant payments system
Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, and Montenegro to launch Tips clone in 18 months
The central banks of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Montenegro have agreed to create a cross-border instant payments system.
In a statement, the four central banks said that the agreement, signed in Rome on January 10, committed them to launch the system in the next 18 months.
However, the National Bank of North Macedonia tells Central Banking that it will first need to consult with a wide range of institutions, and will therefore need more time to decide.
