‘Careful’ regulation needed to prevent fintech financial exclusion – IMF
New technology must not be taken for granted during Covid-19 recovery, researchers say
Policy-makers must ensure fintech does not lead to greater financial exclusion in a post-Covid era, according to new research from the International Monetary Fund.
During the crisis, fintech has helped ensure consumers have access to financial services and has helped governments distribute funds to the most vulnerable, the research finds.
Fintech firms will also likely help economies recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, but they should not be taken for granted, according to Ratna Sahay et al.
