Central banks lacking fintech unit less likely to have a strategy

Respondents’ strategic priorities include digitalisation, regulations, collaborations and others

Central banks with no dedicated fintech team are less likely to possess a strategy customised for financial technology, the Fintech Benchmarks 2025 find.

Just under half (46.7%) of 15 jurisdictions with no dedicated fintech team have a fintech strategy.  Among seven central banks where fintech staff are decentralised, 57.1% operate with a strategy. Meanwhile, two-thirds (66.7%) of teams with centralised fintech teams say they own a fintech strategy.
