Kenya: The Kenyan parliament on June 18 approved the appointment of Patrick Njoroge as governor of the Central Bank of Kenya. He replaces Njuguna Ndung'u, who stepped down in March.

Njoroge will join the central bank from the IMF, where he is currently adviser to the deputy managing director. He has served in various economics roles at the International Monetary Fund since 1995, and before then was an economist for Kenya's Ministry of Finance. He holds a PhD in economics from Yale University.
