Shift towards 'commercial' and 'political' central bank communication set to continue
Former ECB press chief says more direct communication also expected
Central banks are increasingly behaving like commercial and political entities in their communications, according to Niels Bünemann, a former principal press officer at the European Central Bank (ECB). They also look set to dedicate more resources to communicating directly with the general public.
Bünemann, now a communication adviser and journalist based in Frankfurt, believes that central banks have "become more nimble in their communication" since entrusting the task to public relations (PR)
