Philippines achieves ‘meaningful’ progress towards financial inclusion

Number of municipalities with access to banking services continues to increase

The Central Bank of the Philippines reported a "modest yet meaningful drop" in the number of municipalities without access to banking services today, in its latest report on the state of financial inclusion.

Financial inclusion is high on the central bank's agenda and its governor, Amando Tetangco, plans to promote it throughout the region in his role as head of the Asian Consultative Council (ACC).
