Bank of Lithuania joins with country's oldest university to set up research centre

Union aims to promote ‘practical application' of scholarly undertakings

The Bank of Lithuania will set up research centre and collaborate with Vilnius University as it seeks to "promote the practical application" of scholarly work.

The collaboration agreement was signed by Vitas Vasiliauskas, the Bank of Lithuania chair, at Vilnius University yesterday. "We often hear criticism that economic science in this country is detached from reality and has little to do with practice," he said in a statement.
