Sarb hits out at ‘blatant misrepresentation’ ahead of South Africa elections

The South African Reserve Bank (Sarb) has denied claims by the Democratic Alliance (DA), South Africa's main opposition party, that the central bank's researchers tested its plans for the economy and found them to be correct.

In a strongly worded statement issued yesterday, the Sarb called the DA's claims a "blatant misrepresentation of the facts" and a "misuse of the Sarb's name". This "demonstrates a disregard of the independence and integrity of the Sarb," the central bank said.
