IMF predicts chequered growth performances in 2013

An update to the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) World Economic Outlook, published on January 23, forecasts a wide range of growth performances by different countries and gives a slightly gloomier assessment than in October 2012.

Emerging markets are once again set to outperform advanced economies by a comfortable margin – growing 5.5% compared with 1.4% – widening the gap by 30 basis points compared with 2012. However, this hides wide disparities within both groups.
