Shirakawa calls for stronger trans-Pacific links

Masaaki Shirakawa delivered a speech on June 6 in which he encouraged advanced economies to strengthen ties with Asia.

Speaking at a Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco conference via a video link from Tokyo, Shirakawa emphasised the "win-win" situation that could be achieved by stronger trans-Pacific economic ties. He said advanced economies could help alleviate growth constraints in Asia by providing environmental and energy-saving technologies, while Asian human resources and supply
