Sri Lanka opens restored central bank building

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has announced the historic Lloyd's building it bought from the United Ceylon Insurance Company in 2009, is now open for business.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Sri Lanka's defence secretary, was invited by Ajith Nivard Cabraal, the governor of the central bank, to officially open the refurbished building on Wednesday.

The central bank purchased the building two years ago to meet its growing space requirements. A renovation programme was then undertaken, which saw new lifts
