BoE chief seemingly caught off guard by the same prankster who tricked Barclays boss Jes Staley

Mark Carney appears to have been caught out by the same email prankster who tricked the chief executive of Barclays into thinking he was emailing the bank’s chairman.

A Twitter user under the handle @sinon_reborn published an exchange between an email address registered under the name ‘Anthony Habgood’ – the chairman of the Bank of England’s (BoE's) Court – and the BoE governor.

Carney appeared initially to fall for the ruse. After the fake Habgood invited him to a “Summer Nights themed soiree
