Colombian central bank joins DLT bond issuance pilot
Technology could cut costs and offer faster processing, traceability, security and risk management
The Central Bank of Colombia is participating in the launch of a pilot blockchain bond issuance, the institution said on July 22.
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the local bank Davivienda are leading the project. The experiment, which is expected to last six months, is intended to be the first bond issued, placed, negotiated and settled using blockchain technology in Colombian capital markets.
