Ukrainian central bank attacks leading law-maker as political dispute worsens
Central bank governor backed by ‘reform council’ and IMF, but president’s stance unclear
The political dispute involving Ukraine's central bank worsened as it publicly attacked one of the country's leading law-makers.
Central bank governor Valeria Gontareva is demanding the country's president repudiate a draft law changing the central bank's mandate and governance, and has criticised the honesty and competence of one of the law's supporters. In return, she has been accused of corruption on behalf of former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych – charges that she denies.
