The Bank of England has distanced itself from a controversial charity auction that included tea with Mark Carney, after an FT investigation alleged sexual misconduct by members of the audience.

In a statement today (January 24), the BoE said it was “not aware” of the Presidents Club Dinner and “did not approve any prize auction for the event”. Governor Carney is “deeply dismayed that such an event could take place”, the central bank added.
