Finnish policy-makers need to act on internal problems, governor warns

The Finnish economy is facing a "deep structural crisis" that has been allowed to fester for too long, Bank of Finland governor Erkki Liikanen has said in the foreword to the central bank's Annual Report 2013.

The governor warned policy-makers had not recognised the problems affecting the Finnish economy, as the initial recovery of consumption and employment after the global financial crisis led to a sense of complacency. "Long-term problems in the Finnish economy received too little attention
