Norges Bank takes billion dollar hit in 2009
Norges Bank's annual accounts for 2009 show a deficit of Nkr 7.6 billion, compared with a surplus of Nkr3.3bn ($500 million) in 2008.
The appreciation of the krone against most of the main currencies in the reserves resulted in an overall exchange loss of Nkr53.1 billion in 2009, compared with a gain of Nkr63.5 billion in 2008, the central bank said.
Movements in international securities markets meant a capital gain of Nkr32.7 billion compared with a loss of Nkr54.3 billion in 2008.
