Ukrainian central bank protests over senior official's arrest

Move comes amid political attacks on NBU governor Gontareva

Ukraine's central bank has protested at the arrest of a senior employee by officials from the country's security service and its prosecutors' office.

In a statement published in Ukrainian on its Facebook page on February 5, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) says its director of payment systems has been arrested.

The central bank statement says a Ukrainian citizen alleged that the arrested NBU employee solicited a bribe from him. But the NBU says that the man who lodged the complaint had worked
