Philadelphia Fed names Patrick Harker president

Background includes academic posts and a spell on the Philadelphia Fed board

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia today announced Patrick Harker will succeed Charles Plosser as president and chief executive of the institution.

Harker, currently president of the University of Delaware, will take over as the 11th head of the Philadelphia Fed on July 1.  Plosser stepped down yesterday after more than eight years in the job.
