Turkmen central bank chief ousted as economic malaise worsens

Gochmurat Muradov this weekend became the fourth central bank chairman to be sacked by Turkmenistan's president, Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, during his eight years in office.

At a special meeting of his cabinet, the autocratic ruler criticised several of his finance and economic ministers for their "poor performance" over the past year, according to a record of it published by Turkmenistan State news agency.
