BoE publishes code of conduct for ‘local recycling' of cash
The Bank of England's (BoE) Strategic Cash Group (SCG) today published the final version of its Code of Conduct for the Authentication of Machine-Dispensed Banknotes, following a consultation that began in February.
The code sets out banknote authentication standards for businesses that self-fill their ATMs or self-service check-outs – so-called Customer-Operated Cash Dispensers (COCDs) – using banknotes tendered by members of the public – a process known as ‘local recycling'.
