Brief History

Established in 1983 under an amending law that converted the Solomon Islands Monetary Authority into a full central bank. Under the Exchange Control Act, the bank has been charged with the administration of exchange control regulations. As a result of the Financial Institutions Act 1998, the Central Bank of Solomon Islands has also assumed supervisory and regulatory roles over the financial system.
