Central Bank of Brazil gains crypto regulation powers

BCB will grant and withdraw licences, and oversee operations and management

The Brazilian government issued a decree on June 13 formally assigning responsibility for crypto regulation to the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB).

The text implements Law 14478, which went into effect last December. That law establishes principles for virtual asset regulation and defines virtual assets. It states the president will choose which agency acts as a regulator.
