Algerian president replaces central bank governor
Saleh Eddine Taleb becomes sixth head of Bank of Algeria in as many years
The president of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, fired central bank governor Rosthom Fadli on May 23. The reasons for the dismissal were not immediately clear, but it came against a backdrop of fiscal problems and high inflation.
The Algeria Press Service reported Salah Eddine Taleb was appointed as the new governor of the Bank of Algeria.
