People: Chile appoints new central bank director

BoJ set to gain new policy board members; RBA names new head of banking; and more

Chile: The Chilean Senate unanimously approved Stephany Griffith-Jones as the newest member of the central bank’s board of directors (March 2).

Outgoing president Sebastián Piñera nominated Griffith-Jones in his final weeks in office to replace Mario Marcel on the central bank’s five-member board. Marcel resigned as governor and a member of the board in late January. Marcel will become finance minister to Gabriel Boric, who takes office as president on March 11.
