Lithuania’s central bank bolsters cash services
Central bank signs agreement with banking sector to maintain minimum level of cash provision
The Bank of Lithuania has signed a memorandum of understanding with local banks to expand the public’s access to cash.
“Despite the gradual decline in its use, cash still remains an important means of payment at the country’s points of sale and between natural persons,” governor Gediminas Šimkus said in a statement.
“Therefore, we have taken leadership to mobilise financial market participants,” he said.
