BoE prepares to break with EU rules on smaller banks

Central bank signals a more tailored approach to regulating non-systemic banks

The Bank of England is consulting on a new regulatory framework for smaller banks that would cause it to diverge from the approach used in the European Union.

In a discussion paper published on April 29, the BoE sets out what it calls a “strong and simple” framework for regulating non-systemic banks in the UK.
