Central Bank of Barbados’s first governor dies
Blackman helped to introduce dollar peg and pioneered transparency
Sir Courtney Blackman, the first and longest serving governor of the Central Bank of Barbados, has died at the age of 88.
Blackman served three terms as governor, from the central bank’s establishment in 1972 until 1987. Prior to this, Barbados’s monetary policies were governed through its membership in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Authority.
