RBNZ could have avoided breach if patch had been deployed sooner, governor says
The governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand says a data breach that occurred in a file-sharing system could have been avoided if the third-party service provider had notified the central bank sooner.
In a statement updating stakeholders about the incident, Adrian Orr said the central bank had “no warning” to avoid the attack, which began in mid-December 2020.
“If we were notified at the appropriate time, we could have patched the system and avoided the breach,” he said. “Accellion failed
