IMF misses gender targets as number of senior women falls

Number of women in senior IMF roles “can and should” increase – report

The International Monetary Fund has missed its gender diversity targets and has even seen a decrease in the number of women occupying senior roles, according to a new report.

In 2016, the IMF’s executive board set voluntary targets for the number of women employed as senior advisers and advisers in the offices of executive directors (OEDs).

By 2020, 35–45% of senior advisers and 40–50% of advisers should be women. According to the IMF’s latest report, as of the end of August 2020, the targets
