Martin Galstyan named next Armenian central bank chief
Experienced central banker will inherit below-target inflation and depressed commodity prices
Martin Galstyan has been named as the new governor of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA). He will inherit a challenging macroeconomic situation when he takes over on June 13.
Galstyan has been with the central bank for more than 20 years, having joined the financial operations department in 1998. He rose from being a dealer to senior portfolio manager, then head of division, before moving in 2015 to head up the central bank’s training and research centre in Dilijan.
