Timetable for BoE governor appointment thrown into doubt
Treasury Committee pushes finance minister to confirm plans or set out new timetable “immediately”
The Treasury Committee has pushed the UK’s finance minister, or chancellor, to clarify the timeline for appointing a new Bank of England (BoE) governor, as reports suggest the decision could be delayed.
“The committee has asked the current chancellor to confirm whether the timetable set out by the previous chancellor still holds true,” the Treasury Committee’s interim chair, Catherine McKinnell, said in a statement. “If not, the chancellor should set out the new timetable immediately.”
