PBoC to issue new banknotes with enhanced security features
New Chinese banknotes will use optically variable magnetic ink
The Chinese central bank will issue a new set of banknotes with enhanced security features in August this year, it said on April 29.
This will be the first new set issued by the People’s Bank of China (PBoC) since 2005. It will include banknotes in denominations of 50, 20, 10, and 1 yuan, and coins of 1 yuan, 5 jiao (50 cents) and 1 jiao (10 cents). The new banknotes, which are the country’s fifth set since 1949, will enter circulation starting from August 30.
