Coomaraswamy sees hope for IMF programme as political crisis fades

Sri Lankan Prime Minister reinstated, paving the way for economic reforms

The governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka has said the country’s IMF programme should get back on course this year, after a political crisis was resolved in December.

Setting out the CBSL’s “road map” for 2019, Indrajit Coomaraswamy acknowledged the “developments” of recent weeks had delayed the release of the latest tranche of IMF funding, but said “we hope to keep the IMF programme on track this year”.
